The Monroe School is located in the D.C.P.S. system. This is a great advantage for our students because the have several options available to enhance their learning. We strongly encourage all our higher grade students to participate in the DCPS Connection program. This means that they can take classes offered only at special technical schools in the Washington, DC region and gain credit as well as knoledge for career preparation.
A tremendous and exciting experience each year, our students get to enroll in classes that are hands on and interactive. From technical studies in Automotive Technology that prepare each student for possible certification to functional positions within Hospitality and Health Care fields. This is the perfect opportunity for students to discover how well they would do in a given field of study. Work on cars, prepare five star meals like a chef and even witness heart transplant surgery while you work in a hospital, the opportunities are endless. We encourage all parents to urge their students to participate in the Career Prep courses at DCPS, regardless of whether they intend to pursue higher education or not.
To find out more information about the course offerings available to them, all students should reach out to their guidance counselor before the class selection period begins.
