All students are expected to be in the building no later than 8:30 am. Any students who make it after 8:30 am are required to sign in at the front desk. In the case of early departure, students are also required to sign out at the front desk in order to maintain accountability of all our students and their safety. A class attendance record of atleast 90% presence is required to receive class credit, this is assessed quarterly. Students arriving more than one (1) hour late for class (without written/phone excuse from a parent/guardian) may be counted absent. Ten (10) excused or unexcused absences during one quarter may result in a failing grade for the class.
Absences for illness, family emergencies, or college visits will be excused. When a student will be late or absent, the parent is required to call the school that morning by 8:00 am and explain the lateness or absence. If you know that your student will be absent in advance, please notify the school’s Administrative Assistant, preferably in writing.
If a student leaves school early for any reason, a parent must notify the school in writing or by phone. Any absence caused by a communicable disease must be reported immediately to
the Head of School as soon as a diagnosis is made.
Homework When Absent
A student missing work due to illness or other excused reasons has until Monday or the first day of the following week to make up the work after returning to school. Extenuating circumstances will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Parents are encouraged to have the student do the work during the absence to avoid a heavy volume of make-up work.
Tests When Absent
For excused absences only, students can make up tests and quizzes during study hall or after school on a pre-assigned make-up day.
